The Player of the Tournament

Gifted by the Taupō Sub-Union upon their re-alignment with the King Country Union. This trophy goes the the most outstanding male or female player of the tournament.

This trophy was first presented in 1988 by the Taupō Rugby Sub Union after discussion with their Ross Shield Organising Committee. This was to recognize Taupō’s involvement with the Ross Shield Tournament over a period of 41 years.

The shield is know as the “Taupō Rugby Sub Union Trophy” and is to be awarded annually to the “Outstanding player of the Tournament”. The choice of the player is made by the Hawkes’s Bay Selector.
